India did extremely well in the 2nd One Day International against West Indies.

The article speaks about the victory of India against West Indies in the 2nd one dayer played in Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on 11th October, 2014. India dominated the match.

After losing the first match against West Indies India made a fantastic comeback in the second one day against West Indies team played in Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on 11th October, 2014.

India scored 263 runs in 50 overs. After a long time Virat Kohli discovered his form. He scored 62 runs in 78 balls with 5 fours. Suresh Raina with his brilliant form helped Virat Kohli to play his innings. Suresh Raina scored 62 runs in 60 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. The century stand between the two gave India a good platform from where the middle-order took the score to 263.

Dhoni scored 51 runs in 40 balls and remained unbeaten at the end.

In reply West Indies were all out for the score of 215 runs. They lost the match by 38 runs. Firstly the big spin bowling of Amit Mishra had mattered a lot. Although Pollard scored few sixes against him, he found the leg break and the occasional googlies very hard to tackle. Amit Mishra bowled 10 overs, gave 40 runs and got 2 wickets including the valuable wicket of Pollard who scored 40 runs of 50 balls.

It has been a blessing in disguise that Ashwin was rested for the one-day series. Continuous use of the spin bowling of Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja had rendered the art to be useless these days. India has become too predictable before the opposition due to the stereotyped team selections. It is high time the spinners of the callibre of Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla should be given more opportunities. After the retirement of Bishen Bedi none of the leg-spinners in India show the courage of giving flighted deliveries in One-dayers. Amit Mishra has flights. He should be nurtured.

Mohammad Shami is the other tramp card in the Indian line up. He bowled for 10 overs, gave 36 runs and captured 4 wickets. He was adjudged the man of the match in the second one dayer. He has a lot of variation right from inswing Yorkers to slower deliveries.

West Indies had made a mess of the match. Smith scored 97 runs. But after that the middle order could not play spin bowling at all. Marlon Samuels, the century maker in the last match struggled and added pressure for the later order batsmen. He played 38 balls and scored only 16 runs. Bravo himself failed by scoring only 10 runs when the team required better performance from him.

India remains favourite to win the one-day series.
